Small Town Sweden

Umea isn’t especially big or “happening” in any way but it has some small city charm for sure. The current population of the northeastern coastal town of Umea, Sweden is 150,000.

Watch out for the boat!

However, with a relatively new University and more and more people moving from the outskirts into the main city, the population is expected to double in the next 20 years-ish. Umea is coastal more in the it’s-really-close to the coast way. The city center actually sits right next to a river, which is usually frozen. Walking across it during the winter isn’t a big deal for any local, but for me, it’s a must do. Overall, just like the rest of Sweden, I’d say the people are really nice and really beautiful…
